Storing and sorting wood strips

As those who build from kits know, wood strips are provided in multiple thicknesses and widths. I have used Model Shipways recently and their usual length is 24".
There are a myriad of strips which I have inventoried and grouped to some degree, usually by thickness. I wonder, though, if any member has found a good way to sort and store the strips until use . . . and even after the kit is finished and there are "leftovers"?

Building windows

I'm leaning towards replacing the cast metal windows on my Corsair kit with some more realistic scratch built ones. I've never done that before and was wondering what methods others have used to accomplish this? If I get real brave I may try replacing the decorative metal transom with a carved wood one, another first for me.
Ideas?
