Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

A home made tool for shaping Masts and Yards
- by verny On Sep 01, 2010 - 7:52 AM
I do not have finances to go out and buy a lathe to shape masts and yards from dowel material supplied in kits so i have improvised using a drill stand (Tork Craft and a base made from scraps of chipboard and other timber. I have used this to shape all masts and yards on my current project HMS Supply from Artesania Latina and it worked like a charm. See pictures below [Read More]

- by Rayzer On Aug 08, 2010 - 2:09 PM
I'm trying to get motivated in creating a long over due workshop out of a small unused room. I've been neglecting my hobbies for far too long and maybe a new dedicated space would help. I'm not new to this, but this is the first place I've lived since moving out on my own in 1982 that I haven't had a dedicated "hobby" room.
I was wondering if you could post some pictures of your workshops/spaces for inspiration and new ideas. I'm looking to doing something unique for...[Read More]

Coppering the Constellation
- by JerryTodd On Jul 30, 2010 - 4:08 PM

I don't know why, because from what I gather copper sheets were nailed on using flat headed nails, counter sunk flush with the sheet.

at the top of the image is a counter sunk nail, the bottom is what most models imply
